Nobody tells you which day is the last one.
There isn't a final scene. There's a Tuesday where eleven of you are sitting on the steps outside the department arguing about where to eat, and then there's placements, and then some people leave early for notice periods, and then there's a group chat that goes from four hundred messages a day to a birthday wish every few months.
The farewell is the only chance you get to mark it on purpose.
What farewells currently are
A hall. A projector that doesn't connect. Someone's speech that runs long. A mug with the batch year printed on it, which will survive exactly one move and then be left in a Gurgaon flat.
And a slideshow - usually made at 3am the night before by whoever had the photos, set to a song that was on the radio that year, with transitions.
The slideshow is the right instinct and the wrong execution. Everyone in the room wants to look at four years of photographs. Nobody wants to watch a PowerPoint with a star-wipe.
Do the thing properly, once

Collect the photographs. Everyone's - the group chat has thousands and nobody has ever sorted them. The trip where the car broke down. The 2am mess food. Whatever happened in second year that you've all agreed was a low point.

The maths, because this is a group thing
₹2,999 across a batch of forty is seventy-five rupees each. Across a friend group of twelve it's ₹250.
You will spend more than that on the farewell dinner. You will spend more than that on the outfit. And the film is the only line item from the entire evening that anyone will still have in five years.
If you're the person collecting money for this in a WhatsApp group - this is the easiest ₹75 you will ever ask forty people for.
For juniors doing it for seniors
This is the version that lands hardest, and it's the least expected.
Seniors get flowers and a card and a group photo. A film made from their four years, by the batch below them, played at the end of the evening - nobody sees it coming, and it's the only farewell gift that's ever remembered by name.
You'll need photos from their batch, which means quietly asking a few of them for their albums a month in advance. Worth the logistics.
Timing, honestly
Farewell season runs February to April. A film takes 2-3 days, but the collecting-photos part takes two weeks because people don't check WhatsApp.
Start a month out. Make one person responsible for the album, not four.
What to do with it after
Don't just play it and let it disappear into the projector.
Send it to every person in the batch that night. It gets forwarded to parents, to siblings, to the people who couldn't come. That's the second life of the thing, and it's bigger than the room.
Practically
WhatsApp us. Send the photos - a Google Drive link is fine - and tell us three things that need to be in there. Doesn't need to be organised. It won't be.
Photos storage hain. Stories memories hain.
